What brings you close to God?  What is it you see or do that brings the relationship you have with Him closer than at any other time?  For many its a walk along the beach, or a view from a mountain top.  It may be holding a child or watching the snow fall and cover the ground with that pure white mysterious glow.  It could be something as unique as the eclipse or as common as stillness.  A couple places in Psalms, the author writes;
"How great is Your goodness, which You have stored up for those who fear You, which You have wrought for those who take refuge in You, before the sons of men!  (31:19)
How great are Your works, O LORD!  Your thoughts are very deep."  (92:5)
Think about something for a minute - why are we amazed by the special things, the special times, and the "specialness" of life?  These are extraordinary and should be realized and appreciated.  But isn't life itself special?  I'd like for you to just reflect for a bit on how "special" the ordinary is.
You see this posting - you're reading these words. You are able to take what you see and make it become a thought.  You are breathing, your heart is beating, your brain is processing.  You are fearfully and wonderfully made.  (Psalm 139:14)
You realize you are a child of God.  He loves you.  He will never leave you or forsake you.  Nothing can separate you from His love for you.  He loves you so much He sent His only Son to pay the price for your redemption.  He is preparing a place for you so that you can be with Him for all eternity.
You see, the spectacular is right in front of us.  But often we don't see it because we have become comfortable, taking these amazing truths for granted.  The thing that is hard for me to understand is the fact some people would rather spend their entire lives trying to explain how all this can be instead of recognizing the One that has given us these wonderful gifts.
I suppose it is because they doubt.  They doubt the existence God.  They doubt He created, provided, rescued, loves, and cares for us, and they fail to believe His Word - which explains it all to them.    Let's add them to our prayers today.  Which, by the way, is another special thing we have been given - the opportunity to openly and without any delay, communicate with the very One who has done everything for us.  Let's never become unaware of His great love for us.  Thank God for His presence in our lives and His works in and around us.
Stand Firm,
